Welcome

Hello, 

My name is Christy Tipton.  I will be your child's 5th grade literacy teacher this year. Welcome to my blog.  

First of all, I would like to tell you a little about me.  I have been married to my incredible husband, Jimmy for 18 years.  We have two amazing and talented children.  Our son, Myles is entering 8th grade and our daughter, Madeleine (rhymes with wine) will be a 5th grader.  We also have a long haired dachshund named Rasco.  

This year begins my 17th year of teaching!  I have taught 4th grade, 1st grade, Reading Recovery and now 5th grade.  (5th grade is my FAVORITE!!!)

I am very passionate about my job.  I love teaching-especially literacy. I want children to understand the necessity of reading proficiently, but also enjoy reading and writing.  

Now, enough about me-let's talk about the blog's purpose.  This blog was created as another communication tool between home and school.  Parents and students are welcome to view the blog and comment, ask questions, and keep up to date on happenings in my classroom. Below, you will also find a link to Remind 101.  

Remind 101 is a texting tool that allows you to receive text messages from me concerning up-coming due dates, tests, activities, etc.  It is a one-way communication tool.  You are not able to respond to the texts.  They are simply announcements designed to keep you informed.
